Here's the 7th installment of "The Parker Report" – August 1, 2015:
We're
back from our 4-day Las Vegas vacation for Brad's birthday the end
of July.
We had a great time and got to see three shows. We
had our long-time friend Denise from Concord (one of our two bunny
sitters we used with Harley) watch Parker for us while we were gone. Things didn't go as smoothly as we had hoped though.
I
warned her that she needs to watch Parker like a hawk because he's like
a four-year-old with A.D.D. sometimes and you can't trust him to
leave him alone like you could with calm, relaxed Harley.
Unfortunately, she had a lapse and Parker somehow got up onto my
little desk in the guest bedroom closet and chewed through the charging cord
for my Samsung Nook tablet. Luckily,
it wasn't a power cord or we'd have a dead bunny.
We told her to sleep in our bedroom just so she wouldn't have to worry about him since the guest bedroom isn't bunny-proofed yet, but I guess maybe she left him unattended after checking her email on my computer. (We didn't have to worry so much with Harley.)

Since
the last post, Parker now follows us upstairs each night when we go to bed and sleeps
under the folding chair by my side of the bed (or in front of the curtains) and wakes us up early
in the morning. He's been waking up about 5:00-5:30 am, but we're
working on trying to get him to push it out a little later since he's
an hour earlier than Harley was. Sometimes we just go downstairs and
give him a little kibble to hold him over until later when we give
him the greens (even though he has plenty of grass.) We have our
room pretty bunny-proofed now that we have the wood box under our bed
so he can't get to the airbed pump.
We
were just making headway in getting Parker to stop chewing on the
baseboard and we were working on keeping him from jumping on the
hearth. He's young (about eight months now) and likes to explore
(with his mouth sometimes). The bad thing was that he had a relapse
while we were gone because he didn't have the training reinforcement from
Denise.
Just
since we went on our trip he now jumps up on the beds, which he
wasn't doing before, and he chews on the baseboard more. He's like a
little kid...when he wants your attention he does something naughty
so you'll notice him (like chewing on baseboard or nipping at your
shoes.) Now we're back to square one.
